My Guider

You've said I'm wise
Far beyond my years
Although I don't believe you
My eyes suddenly have tears

It's for all the times
You've been there for me
Helping me in any way
Especially with my poetry

You've been there from the start
Helping me improve
Each compliment you've given
Tells me you approve

You are an exceptional person
And I know in my heart
Fate brought us together
To never have us drift apart

I love you more than the stars
And the dirt under my feet
But I’m just so thankful
That fate had us meet
I tried saying goodbye
But you wouldn't let me go
Why would you keep me around
If you didn't want me ages ago?

I tried to put up a wall
To keep my heart from breaking
But you somehow broke it down
And now my heart is aching

Even though you said you did
You never cared about me
This hurtful love within my heart
Needs to be set free

Tired & Confused

You don't text
You don't call
What do I do?
I'm in a stall

Tired of waiting
Tired of trying
What do I do?
Keep on lying

Mixed signals
Mixed feelings
What do I do?
Gotta keep on healing

Are you in?
Or are you out?
Better decide quick
Or you'll be without

Friend

You’re the type of friend anyone could love
Because you’re sweet, funny, caring
You love to help me any way you can
Even if I don’t feel like sharing

You’re there for me when I’m down
Listening to what I have to say
You’re there when I need someone to talk to
Trying to keep my emotions at bay

I’ve known you for a very short time
But it seems like it’s been years
I confide in you with everything
Even sharing my deepest fears

You’re the type of friend anyone could love
Because you have a heart of gold
And I’m hoping at some point to share with you
Everything that’s been untold

Unnamed 1

The necklace hangs around my neck
As a constant reminder of you
Because when you're not with me
My emotions always turn blue

I look forward daily to talking to you
Chatting about both our days
Dreams, and hopes, and worries
Until we don't know what to say

You bring a smile to my face
No matter how sad I am
You're nothing like a lion
But gentle like a lamb

I want to have you around for always
Together through thick and thin
Because this is just where we start
On a journey we both begin

Fans of Celtic Thunder

Being a dedicated fan
Requires a little hard work
Especially if others
Are trying to be jerks

Fans don't diss their favorite band
Nor do they hate things about them
Because in their mind's eye,
They are quite the gem

They, the fans, love them for them
Not because of the content they sing
But because they know the truth
That they are the REAL thing

So if you're a dedicated fan
Keep the love flowing
So that the "Celtic" Thunder
Keeps on rolling

Absence.....

Wow. I'm really slacking. I was very busy with school & hadn't had a chance to update this. I have written a few poems since my last post so I will post those. I, however, somehow lost my notebook with the story with Mr. McGee & Annabelle. If I find it, I will put up another little snipit of it since I haven't written in it in so very long. I'm sorry for this long absence.

Enjoy!

A Dream Come True #4

"Okay. I guess I'll tell two stories today since you all have been fantastic this week. How's that sound?"

A roar of happiness filled the room.

The day passed by quickly and soon it was time to head home. Anna had to make a quick stop to get some needed groceries.

It was only a few minutes from the school to the store so she was there in no time. She climbed out of the car and headed into the store when she spotted someone familiar.

"I didn't think I'd see you again so soon. What are you doing here?"

"Well, I should be askin gyou the same thing. But since you asked, I forgot to stock up on snacks for the lad. He and I just finsihed our little tour of the surrounding area and he said he was hungry so now I'm here, with you," he said with a seductive smile. "So, what are you doing here?"

"Well, apparently the same thing. And to set the record straight, I am not here with you." Anna didn't like to have him say that no matter how much she wished it were true. She really had no idea what her true feelings were for him. All she knew was that she did like it when he said 'with you' because she never had someone, some guy for that matter, ever say that to her.

A Dream Come True #3

(not indented)He winked and left Anna with many questions. Anna didn't have any time to waste. She was late getting to work but not entirely since she wasn't scolded at by the powers.

Gathering her belongings, she headed to room 115. Some of her students were waiting with eager smiles. She shooed the kids off to play outside, encouraging them to enjoy the outdoors and to maintain a healthy weight so as to not be a victim of obesity. Anna got her things situated for the day, all the while humming to "Heartbreaker" by Ryan Kelly of Celtic Thunder. This song kind of fitted Anna's first impressions of Mr. Fin McGee.

The bell woke Anna out of her daydream because now was teh time to each. Anna loved to teach children almost as much as visiting Ireland. To her it seemed as if everyday had new surprises even if the day was going horrible. So as the students were taking their seats, Miss Quinn decided what to do first.

"Okay, guys, listen up! You have two options: either start work and have me tell a story later or tell the story now and work the rest of the day." The kids loved to hear Miss Quinn's stories because most of them were about Ireland so it was a hard decision for them to make. When Miss Quinn saw the difficulty of this decision, she decided to do something nice and quite surprising for a woman like her.

A Dream Come True #2

"Yeah, I guess I'll go, too. I have to pick up a wee lad and take him to the park."

"Aww. How old is this wee lad, if I may ask?"

"He's four. I'm just going to teach him how to catch a ball so he can start playin' when he and I return home."

"How sweet." Anna's brain had a moment of catching up before she said, "Wait. 'Return home'? I thought you just moved here from Ireland? You're not staying?"

Fin looked at Anna, puzzled. "Yeah. I had to finish a few things up here and see some sights before I left."

Anna didn't know what to say because she didn't understand what he meant by 'finish a few things up'. Why would someone leave their home to travel somewhere else to 'finish a few things up', especially one from Ireland. She knew how she felt returning home. She couldn't fathom his motives and really didn't want to.

"Oh. Well, I hope you enjoy yourself."

With a smirk and a seductive purr in his voice, he said, "Well, of course, love. Why wouldn't I?"

A Dream Come True #1

*Note: This is not the beginning of the story. It's where I chose to begin.*

"I've never seen you here before."

"Yeah, well, I just moved here from Ireland but plan on moving back after I finish looking for something."

This man looked a lot like the one in Anna's dreams. He had the same facial features and was built the same way. Scary to think this strange man resembled the on her dreams.

"Umm, sorry, but I didn't seem to catch your name."

"Finnegan McGee but everyone calls me Fin." He had this sort of gleam in his blue eyes that told her to be wary of him. "May I ask what you call yourself?" He even had the same raspy voice. Shivers ran up her spine; he noticed. "Somethin' the matter, beautiful?"

"N-n-no. I'm just a bit lightheaded, that's all." Anna was blushing from having to lie. "My name is Anna, Annabelle Quinn."

He extended his hand and said, "Nice to meet ya, Anna." Shaking his hand brought back the sensations from her dreams. Could this be a coincidence?

Mr. McGee was standing there, looking at Anna like he was going to snatch her up. Another shiver ran through her body.

"Is somethin' the matter? You have shivered twice. Are ya sure ya don't have a fever or somethin'? I could take ya home if ya liked."

"No, I"m fine. Thanks though. I guess I'll see ya around." Anna was afraid to stay much longer because Fin seemed a bit mysterious.

Regarding the "Dream" story

I have recently decided not to continue 'Dream' in first person, rather the third person. The next installment of this "updated" story will still contain the same thing but in a much different way. I was editing it and decided that I might as well "restart" to fully get the story out.

Thanks for reading!

For My Special Friends

Meeting you has changed my life
And I'd never want it any other way
Because it's meant so much to me
That I still have friends today

You came into my life
And I didn't know what to expect
Because I honestly didn't know
How we would connect

You're now in my life
And I seem to be addicted
Or else very much attached
This wasn't something I predicted

I wanted to say thanks
For always being there
Because otherwise
I wouldn't really care

Long overdue...

This is just something I have to post. No need to comment.

Being in love is so complicated. Sometimes one loves the other more. Sometimes one doesn't think the other loves them as much. Sometimes there isn't enough time to see each other. Sometimes ones afraid to tell the other they love them. So you see, love is a complicated thing to go through and sometimes scary as hell. But we all go through it at one time or another. We just have to be thankful for the experience and the memories that go along with it otherwise we wouldn't be human.

So much I should add but I don't think I should. I really must jet and try to write more of my dream but I can't find the time or resources though I have everything ready to be written/typed. Maybe I'll do what Stephenie Meyer did and write the ending before I finish the beginning.

Just my thoughts today (& one from January).

Dream #2

It's not very common to have the same dream multiple times, all being about the same man, doing the same things. How am I supposed to know what this means? It's not like I don't know I'm looking for a man, the right man for that matter, who I want to spend the rest of my life with. I mean I am almost thirty years old and haven't had but a couple of boyfriends in my time, none of whom were the husband type. Why should I be having these dreams, the same dream, all in a short amount of time? Is there something I'm missing in this dream?

Whatever the case may be, I better leave it alone because otherwise I'll have an accident. I wouldn't want to have those kids possibly miss out on one of my Ireland stories. Man, it makes me feel so wonderful to share all my experiences with those kids; makes me feel like I'm back there, reliving everything I have done.

The ride home was faster than the one to school. Everything looks as if it has survived the day. I cross the threshhold of the door and take a deep sigh of relief. I drop everything on the table in the hallway and walk to my kitchen to fix something to eat. As I walk by the living room and the dining room, I silently wonder if there is ever going to be a man living in this house and just as quickly, I shake that thought from my head. As I reach the kitchen, all I can smell are the flowers I picked the day before: purple lilacs. In the warm kitchen, the lilacs have permeated the room since I left this morning. With the room filled with lilacs and whipping up a quick snack, I'm content enough to forget about the dream.

For My Mentor (you know who you are!)

You have repeatedly told me
How proud you are
But I honestly don't see
Who you are referring to, a star

I take those compliments
And put them to heart
But it doesn't cover
The ache I feel from being apart

You are like my mother
Someone to seek guidance from
But I don't see
Who you think I should become

I love you to no end
But I just wanted to tell you
How much your absence affects me
And why I seem so blue.

Arlene, I hope this conveys my feelings. As you can see, it is not edited and doesn't intend to be either (unless otherwise noted). I must thank you for your support in my poetry and writings; afterall you were the one who showed me a new way to express myself. You've also showed me what a wonderful girl I am and how bright and creative I can be. I think very highly of you and I thank you.

All the best for the future.

Longing For Him

I see him in the hallway
And lose every breath I take
I remember the reason why
My heart suddenly aches

I want to say ‘hi’
But can’t find the courage to
I remember those days
And wonder if it was all so true

I long for us to be friends
But he has moved on
All that I wished for
Is suddenly gone

I wish he would touch me
Embrace me in the warmth of his arms
But I have forgotten
He has boyish charms

I wish for us to be together,
To be one, not apart
But I know in truth
It’s only in my heart

Undying First Love

My first true love
Left my heart in two
It took awhile for me
To realize we were through

He was my sunshine
A place that was serene
But that was some time ago
When I was only sixteen

I've learned hearts will be broken
And crushes will die
But that doesn't mean
I should cry

Love comes and goes with time
And so will my heartache
I know that my first love
Was never a huge mistake

He will always be my first
The first sense of love
But I learned and can be free
Just like a singing morning dove

Dream #1

His lips were so warm, so irresistible. Locked with mine was where they belonged. It was like floating on a cloud. He would always be there no matter what. My angel.

I woke with a start. For the third time I've had that same dream. The same one where I'm wrapped comfortably in his warm embrace and in the same instant, locking lips that taste like raspberries. You'd think I'd get used to it by the third time but each time, something minisculed is different and each time it adds to the intensity. The strangest part is that it's the same guy but he, too, is somehow different.

It was no use staying in bed; I had to get up and go to work. If it wasn't for those kids, I would stay in bed and dwell on that dream, try to seek its meaning. But I promised myself I'd get up and go to work for the safety and well-being of those kids and that means getting out of bed, walking the few steps to the chilly bathroom, taking a hot shower, and get dressed in khakis and whatever dressy shirt appealed to me. After dressing, I headed downstairs to the kitchen to fix myself some breakfast. This morning I didn't feel like cooking eggs, bacon, and toast so I fixed me a bowl of cereal. Not the healthiest of breakfasts or as filling but it'd satisfy my hunger.

After I ate breakfast and put the dishes in the sink, I grabbed my things to head to work. Outside the door is my morning newspaper so I picked that up and took it with me to read it at lunchtime. I put all my things on the front seat of my baby blue '57 Chevrolet Bel Air and drove off to a place I didn't want to be at the moment.

Driving has its pros and cons: today's con was having too much time to dwell on the dream I've had three times now. I can't seem to fathom the warmth of the kiss, the man behind the kisses, and the number of times it's happened. Dreams don't occur that often and almost be identical not to have some meaning behind it, but I have to let it go and pay attention to the road.

The drive was agonizingly long, to say the least. I parked in my usual spot, right next to Mr. Duncan's navy blue '03 Ford F-150. I sat there for 5 minutes thinking of my plans for the class today, making sure I had everything in mind what I wanted to get done today, and then I got out and headed to the doors and into my classroom.

My classroom, number 115, is located down by the principal's office and kind of away from any other classroom. The powers told me I could do anything I wanted to the room as long as the students would be able to learn without being distracted; totally understood and decorated it to my taste. I do believe the parents enjoy my room more than the rest because of the array of items and pictures I have: a picture of the Blarney Stone in Ireland, a postcard of the Mourne Mountains, a picture of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin, among various other items and pictures. The students love to hear stories about the folklore of Ireland and so I always sit down with them and tell a tale of a leprechaun or fairy. They're always asking questions about Ireland and I smile and yearn to be back in that magical place. It's my home away from home.

I walk to my room and put my things on my desk and make sure I have our agenda written on the board otherwise the kids would be asking me what we are going to do next. After that's done, I head to the office to check my mailbox and chat with a few of the other staff members that are there.

The students were arriving as I was getting the materials out for the day. A few stopped to say good morning before putting their things away. As soon as it was 8:00 a.m., I took attendance and told them to get their writing journals out. I always have them start the day by writing a few sentences about anything they want and then share it with the class. A few of them are well written while others still need work but that's why I am a teacher, to help improve the children's educational skills. After that, I told them to put their journals away and get a notebook out so we could learn the English language. Today I taught them pronouns and most of them got the hang of it. After a quick homework assignment, we went on to spelling. I had them write down the words and look up the definition and write it in a sentence. That took a bit of time but then it was almost recess time. I asked them if they wanted snack time before or after recess and majority said after so then we played a quick game of hangman with spelling words.

Recess came and went and so did snacktime so then it was back to work. Science and social studies passed by in a breeze and soon it was lunch. Lunch. The dreadful time when I have time alone to eat and think about things. Today was not a good day to do that but thankfully I had the morning newspaper to read. It didn't contain anything super important about the local, state, or national news besides the usual negative views on the healthcare, education development, natural disasters around the world; nothing about someone local doing a good deed and being recognized. Sometimes I question about my career of choice. I ate slowly and barely paid any attention to the news; I was too preoccupied on my dream from the night before. Was there some clue I was missing? Something so vital it had to make itself known through my dreams? Whatever the case may be, it'll show its true meaning sooner or later.

Lunch was finally over and so kids were ready to learn, well not completely since they were so rowdy but ready enough that we could learn some math. Today I taught them how to add double digits. We spent a lot longer on that than I had thought but after about a dozen or so examples, they finally caught on and were able to do their homework in record time. After all the papers were turned in, I told them it was time to read, which would lead us up to the final bell. I asked which story they would like me to read and in the few moments that all were talking at once, I heard a number of times to have me tell them of another Irish story. I quieted them down before I began to tell the story.

A Legend of Knockmany (http://www.apples4theteacher.com/holidays/st-patricks-day/short-stories/a-legend-of-knockmany.html)

I was halfway done with the story when I noticed the children only had a few minutes left of the day. I told them it was time to pack up and that I would read the rest of the story the next day; the kids all whimpered because they wanted me to finish.

The bell rang and I took a sigh of relief. I took and cleaned the room and went to the office to retrieve any notices in my mailbox before I climbed in the car to drive home. It wasn't until I was halfway home that I thought about the dream.

Susie's Disappearance

Once again, Susie was nowhere to be found. She wasn't behind the couch, in the closest, under the bed, or in any of her normal hiding spots. I was puzzled as to where she could be hiding.

"Mom, have you seen Susie anywhere?"

"No, honey. Did you check her bedroom?"

"Yes, I did. I checked all her normal hiding places, but I can't find her anywhere!"

"Just keep searching for her. She'll come out sometime. She's just probably really quiet somewhere."

"Okay, Mom. By the way, that smells delicious!"

Mom was making brownies as a snack. The warm, chocolatey kind with chocolate frosting. Yum. My favorite snack.

I can't seem to find Susie anywhere. I've checked every corner of the house and there's no sign of my little sister. She's quite the smartypants. She doesn't hide in the same place back-to-back or even within five times of hiding. She hides in any spot she can cram her body in. Besides being a good hider, she's quite smart. She knows her alphabet, both forward and backwards. She can read a book that a common second grader could read. I think she got it from me because I'm forever reading her books and teaching her. I, too, am a smartypants like her. I have had straight A's since Kindergarten and I, too, love to read. I guess I passed on everything I have grown up with to my little sister Susie, who at this point in time is still missing.

I don't know where she would be hiding. I've checked everywhere in the house. Maybe she's outside.

We live in the country where the closest neighbor is a quarter mile away. We don't own lots of property but it's enough to satisfy us. Plenty of yard to play a game of softball, my favorite sport, or even ride the ATVs around.

"Susie!" Where could she be? She has never done this before and I'm worried sick about her. For a kid her age, she's quite smart even if she can outsmart her own smart sister. Where is she?!

There's not many places where she can hide. I remember where I used to hide, however. I bet she's there since she takes after her big sis. The best hiding spot in the world for a kid like her is the tree house.

I remember all the times I hid there. Each one was distinct and special in its own way. One time I hid there and pretended I was being chased by a pink polka dotted dragon, though I made friends with it later on one of my other "excursions". There was another time, however, when I was waiting for my prince charming to rescue me from my evil stepmother. Boy, was that a dream come true!

I wonder why I never thought of it before. The tree house. That was my refuge when I was Susie's age.

"Susie? You here?" Please be here.

"Yeah, I'm here." She sounded so sullen. I wonder what's wrong with her. She's always been a content little girl.

"Thank goodness I found you. I was worried sick about you. mom told me not to worry about you. Please, Susie, don't do that again! What are you doing up here anyway?"

In her sullen mood, her answer was unexpected. "I don't know. I wanted to make it difficult for you to find me, but somehow I ended up here. I was waiting for you to find me but you took so long that I started thinking. Sis, am I adopted?"

That sure caught me off guard. Why would she ask me such a question when we're so alike? "Susie, why in this crazy world would you think that?" I took my baby sister in my arms and gave her the most loving hug I had ever given her.

"Well, the kids at school are teasing me."

"Why would they be doing that? You're a wonderful little kid; who wouldn't want to be your friend?"

"They've been teasing me about my brain..."

"Oh, Susie!" I took her in my arms again and spoke to her like a big sister should. "Susie, don't let them put these things in your head. You're an exceptional little girl. You, me, Mom, Dad, practically everyone you know knows that. Besides, you weren't the only one who went through this kind of thing."

Susie looked up with her tear-streaked face in astonishment. "Really?"

"Absolutely."

"Who's been in my position?"

"Me, silly! Haven't you noticed I encourage you to study things that is meant for someone older?"

"No, I guess not. Why do you?"

I didn't know what to say to her so I told her the truth. "I really don't have a definite answer but I can tell you this: Mom saw the potential in me when I was younger and encouraged me and I guess I see the same things Mom saw in me. So now ou know you're not alone. I'll always be here for you whenever you need me." I hugged Susie one more time. "So what do you wanna do now?"

Susie pondered that thought awhile before she answered. "Can you teach me something new?"

I just laughed because that was the last thing I expected her to ask me. "Yes, of course. But, Susie, why?" I didn't know where she was headed with this but it wasn't the first time.

"Well, I figured if I was supposed to be smart, I might as well continue to learn. Plus..."

"Plus what?"

"Plus I wanna skip a grade or two."

"Why would that be?" She had me puzzled once again and her reply was a bit shocking. She was really on a roll with startling me today.

"I wanna see cute boys." She just sat there blushing like it was something that she wasn't supposed to admit, especially to me. I had to laugh at her. I remember my force to skip a few grades, too, but I was a little bit older than Susie.
